Natun Gati, Malda: Kaliachak College NSS units 1 and 2 organized an awareness program on International AIDS Day 1st December 2023 in the Conference Hall. The earnest program was presided over by Dr Nazibar Rahaman, the principal of this college, and Doctor Hajerul Ibkar, the president of the Doctors’ Club of Kaliachak was the keynote speaker. Dr Subrato Kumar Das, head of the Department of Economics and Co-ordinator of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell was also a speaker. The program was conducted by Dr Samerita Ponda, program officer, NSS & HOD, Zoology along with Janab Munshif Ali Rizvi another NSS program official and faculty member in the Department of Arabic. Mr Gajen Barui assistant professor in the department of political science coordinated the initiative.
In his presidential speech, Dr. Nazibar Rahman raised the concern of the serious AIDS disease which has no medicine today only prevention is the way out for the global community. He urged to all the students teaching and non-teaching members to speed up the messes of awareness and prevention regarding AIDS he also reminded that the World Health Organization has set the theme for International AIDS DAY 2023 ‘LET the Community Lead’.
Doctor Hajerul Ibkar said that safe sexual relations in a legal way is the main way of preventing AIDS and not to use a needle or syringe for injection used by others and not to use any used blades by any other person. He also warned that the migratory laborers should be more cautious about safe sexual relations.
