Debjit Mukherjee: Kerala journalist Siddique Kappan who was booked by the UP government under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) released from jail after he was granted bail on February 02 in Lucknow. Siddique Kappan was arrested in October 2020 by the Uttar Pradesh police on his way to report the Hathras gang rape case.
“I have come out of jail after 28 months. I want to thank the media for supporting me. False allegations were put against me. I am happy to be out now,” said Siddique Kappan.
