News Desk: Two more persons – Pratik Bhowmik and Hasibul Sheikh – were arrested by the Kolkata Police STF on charges of direct involvement with Maoist leader Jayita. According to STF sources, Pratik and Hasibul were arrested from Murshidabad.
Police said the Maoists are trying to strengthen the organization in border districts including Murshidabad, Nadia and Malda. By creating multiple organizations they are keeping touch with people of different professions. According to the police, Pratik and Hasibul used to work as members of such a leading organization. As part of their work, they kept in touch with Jayita and other leaders. Detectives have even received information that the two used to visit Jangalmahal. In addition, the two used to stay in touch with many people who were sympathetic to the Maoists. They used to collect dues from them in the name of various organizations. However, the detectives alleged that almost all of the money used to go to the Maoist fund. Detectives are trying to find out how the money was utilized. Pratik, Hasibul and Jayita are already being interrogated together. Mobile phones of three people are being tested. Police said they are trying to find out which Maoist leaders are in touch with the three.
