Russia-Ukraine War: Volodymyr Zelensky warns Ukraine of Russian attack on Independence Day

News Desk: As Ukraine prepares to celebrate its 31st Independence Day that marks the anniversary of the Declaration of Independence after the Soviet Union split, President Volodymyr Zelensky has warned that Russia might try to do something “particularly ugly” on the day.

In his nightly video address, Zelensky said that Ukrainians must not allow Moscow to “spread despondency and fear” among them.

“We must all be aware that this week Russia could try to do something particularly ugly, something particularly vicious” Zelensky said.

Incidentally, the Independence Day August 24 this year also marks the six-month anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
