Bengal DA issue: State government announced hike of three per cent in DA

Debjit Mukherjee, Kolkata: The West Bengal government on Wednesday announced a hike of three per cent in the dearness allowance (DA) for all state government employees and retired persons.

 

The West Bengal state budget for the fiscal year 2023–24 was presented in the State Assembly by Chandrima Bhattacharya, the state minister of finance (independent charge), on Wednesday.

 

Among the several big announcements, the budget speech this time suggested measures to support new businesses and the manufacturing industry. Bengal FM Chandrima Bhattacharya announced Rs 350-crore startup fund to extend up to Rs 5 lakh each to young entrepreneurs. She added that Bengal’s SGDP is projected to grow at 8.4 per cent.
