News Desk: JDU leader Deepak Kumar Mehta was shot dead by miscreants in front of his house in Patna’s Nasirganj on Monday night.
Locals blocked the road in protest after the incident. The blockade lasted for an hour. Police later lifted the blockade. Additional police have been deployed due to tension in the area.
According to police sources, the miscreants attacked the leader on Monday night and fled. Six cartridge cases were later recovered from the spot. A killer was hired to kill Deepak.
A relative of the JDU leader claimed “Deepak was a popular leader in the area. Local board election was near. He was assassinated on political grounds”.
