Debjit Mukherjee: A woman was among five people wounded in firing by unidentified assailants after a scuffle with residents of Imphal West district’s Konjen Hajari Leikai late Saturday.
Sources said about 20 unidentified people arrived in the neighbourhood in two SUVs and some two-wheelers and barged into the house of Kh. Satyajit, aka Bobo, to allegedly abduct him.
As Satyajit’s wife and some other women resisted the intruders, a crowd gathered outside the house and pelted the former with stones. The assailants first fired into the air and later at the locals, injuring five of them. By the time police arrived, the group had already fled.
