Video of Ajmer Dargah Khadim threatening Nupur Sharma went viral

Debjit Mukherjee: The Ajmer Police in Rajasthan has begun investigating a threat to suspended BJP leader Nupur Sharma after a video of the person went viral.

Additional SP, Ajmer, Vikas Sangwan said: “The video of a person making controversial statements came to us and we registered a case. Investigations revealed that the accused was intoxicated when he made the statements”.

The accused, Salman Chishti, in a video that went viral on July 4, promised to gift a house to anyone who would behead Nupur Sharma. Salman Chishti is registered as a history-sheeter at the Dargah police station.

The incident comes just days after a video of the Udaipur killing went viral. Kanhaiya Lal was a Hindu tailor who was beheaded in Udaipur on June 28 by two assailants — Riyaz Attari and Ghouse Mohammad — due to a Facebook post that he had put up in support of Nupur Sharma.

Following that, several others were threatened and forced to apologise on camera for supporting Nupur Sharma by alleged Islamist radicals. Nupur Sharma, too, received threats from many corners, including terrorist organisations.
