News Desk: Sri Lanka in extreme financial crisis. A state of emergency has been declared since late Friday night.
Thousands of people gathered outside the president’s residence on Friday evening to demand the resignation of President Rajapaksa. After that he declared a state of emergency.
Rajapaksa said “There was an urgent need to bring the ongoing unrest in the country under control, take strict action against the conspirators, arrest if necessary and detain the suspects”.
Even then, protests continued across the country.
