Debjit Mukherjee, Kolkata: West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday announced financial assistance and government jobs to two athletes from Bengal – Achintya Shiuli and Sourav Ghosal – who brought medals to the country at the Commonwealth Games 2022.
Inaugurating the new tent of the Mohun Bagan Club on Wednesday, the Chief Minister announced “Financial assistance will be given to the two athletes from Bengal who won medals for the country in the Commonwealth Games. Achintya Shiuli will be given Rs 5 lakh and Sourav Ghoshal will be given Rs 2 lakh. Also these two athletes will be given government jobs. Along with this, the state government will honor both of them on August 16 Khela Diwas”.
