“Don’t confuse Gita with Bible and Quran”: BC Nagesh’s controversial remarks

News Desk: “The Gita is above all, it is not right to confuse the Bible with the Gita” said Karnataka Education Minister BC Nagesh. Nagesh made the remarks following allegations against Clarence High School in Bangalore.

Nagesh said “The Bible and the Quran are religious texts. Do not confuse the Bhagavad Gita with it. The Bhagavad Gita is not a religious text. And the Qur’an cannot be taught in schools. We want to include in the students’ moral science curriculum something that will improve their moral sense”.

The Hindu Janajagriti Samiti alleges that the school is imposing the Bible on all students. It has been made compulsory for students to take the Bible to school. Parents are also asked to sign in this regard. On Tuesday, the state education department sent a show-cause notice to the school. On the other hand, the National Commission for the Protection of Child Rights has also demanded an investigation into the matter. According to them, the school has violated Article 25 of the constitution by imposing Bible on the students. They also asked the school for a satisfactory answer within seven days.
