Former Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif finally returning to the country

News Desk: Former Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif is finally returning to the country. His brother Shahbaz Sharif’s government has issued a passport in his name. Passports have been issued in the ‘ordinary’ category on an emergency basis.

According to analysts, the current Prime Minister of Pakistan Shahbaz Sharif does not want anymore controversy over Nawaz’s return to the country. So he is not issuing a diplomatic passport right now. If he returns, it will be a new turn in Pakistan politics.

Nawaz Sharif is currently in London. Multiple corruption cases are pending against him. It is to be noted that in 2017, Nawaz lost his seat in the verdict of the Pakistani Supreme Court. After that Imran government started investigation of a bunch of corruption cases against him. In 2018, the Accountability Court sentenced Nawaz to seven years in prison in the Al-Azizia Steel Mill corruption case. He was also sentenced to 11 years in prison in the Avenfield property case. He was also fined 8 million pounds. In 2019, the Lahore High Court allowed Nawaz to go to London for treatment. Then he did not return to the country. He was also declared a ‘declared criminal’ by the Islamabad High Court in 2021 for failing to return to the country on time.
