Israel stepped up its air and ground attacks on Gaza Strip

News Desk: Israel has stepped up its air and ground attacks on the Gaza Strip after its military spokesman Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari said on Friday that its ground forces will expand their operations in the Palestinian enclave. Further, internet and phone services were cut off in Gaza as a result of Israeli bombardments, said telecom firms and the Palestinian Red Crescent Society.

In response to the Israeli military, Hamas said its fighters in the enclave are “ready to confront (Israel’s) aggression with full force”.

This came even as Israel rejected a resolution passed in the United Nations General Assembly which called for an immediate humanitarian truce between Israel and Hamas and demanded aid access to the besieged Gaza Strip and protection of civilians.

Meanwhile, Palestinian health authorities said the retaliatory attacks by Israel have already killed more than 7,000 people in Gaza. Israel launched its attacks after a surprise attack by Hamas on October 7 killed more than 1,400 people.
