Telangana Assembly Polls: Congress announced its second list of 45 candidates

Debjit Mukherjee: Congress on Thursday announced its second list of 45 candidates for the much-awaited Telangana Assembly elections, scheduled to take place on November 30. Notably, the grand old party has fielded former Indian cricket team captain Mohammad Azharuddin from Jubilee Hills from Jubilee Hills seat.

Additionally, the party has also fielded former MP Madhu Goud Yakshi from Lal Bahadur Nagar, Ponnam Prabhakar from Husanabad, Kandi Srniwas Reddy from Adilabad, Tumla Nageshwar Rao from Khammam, K Raj Gopal Reddy from Munugode.

The list also includes former MP Madhu Goud Yakshi, who will be running from Lal Bahadur Nagar, Ponnam Prabhakar from Husanabad, Kandi Srniwas Reddy from Adilabad, and Tumla Nageshwar Rao from Khammam, among others.

With its second, the party has revealed a total of 100 candidates for the Telangana assembly polls, which will cover the 119 assembly constituencies in the state. The Congress declared its first list of 55 candidates on October 15.

Interestingly, Raj Gopal Reddy returned to the Congress earlier in the day, rejoining the party over a year after leaving to join the BJP.

The Congress leadership discussed and finalized the list of candidates for the Telangana assembly polls during a significant meeting of the party’s Central Election Committee, which was chaired by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge.

The meeting included former party chief Sonia Gandhi, committee members, and prominent Telangana leaders, including PCC Chief A Revanth Reddy.

Telangana’s election process is set to begin with the issuance of notifications on November 3, followed by polling on November 30. The results are scheduled to be announced on December 3.
