Md Nawaj Shorif, Malda: From the national highway to the state highway, all roads are under toto’s control. As a result, common people cannot walk. There are no passengers on other public transports. All in all, Maldah district administration is also worried about it.

In this situation, the people protested to demand the ban of toto. It is alleged that despite repeated requests to the administration demanding control of toto, no action has been taken. In protest against this, Malda’s Chanchal Sub-division Passenger Forum blocked National Highway 81 and demonstrated. Hundreds of members of that organization participated in this movement on Tuesday.

Protesters clashed with the police when they came to lift the blockade on the national highway of Chanchal city on Tuesday afternoon. In front of the police, the protestors raised their demands to stop illegal totos. Kader Khan, secretary of Chanchal sub-district passenger forum, said, “We bought the car on loan. On top of that, Chanchal City is small. Numerous illegal totos are running, causing problems for ordinary pedestrians and daily passengers.” The protestors complained that buses, trekkers, autos are not being used by anyone due to toto.

Md Nawaj Shorif, Malda: The Sealdah-Silchar-bound Kanchenjunga Express was saved from a major accident. Thanks to the cautious mind of a Class V student named Mursaleem. He risked his life and saved the lives of hundreds of passengers. As soon as the picture spread, the railway officials also praised the courage of the boy.

According to railway sources, the incident happened at 3:30 pm on Friday. Up Kanchenjunga Express then passed Bhaluka Road station in Malda district at a high speed. At that time, 8-year-old boy Mursaleem was returning home by the side of the train line. He saw a big hole in the track where the express train is supposed to come. The question arises in his mind, the train will not be in any danger as a result of such a big hole on the railway line? He took off hid red t-shirt while thinking and whirled. The driver stopped the train after seeing the child in that way. Railway people came running. After hearing everything from the boy, they went to visit the spot. They saw a deep hole under the railway line. After this, the repair work of the line began. The train reached its destination safely.

Mursaleem said, “I saw a hole in the railway line. I was wondering what it was. Then I heard the train coming. I took off my red t-shiry and ran around. After that the train stopped. The driver got down. Everyone came and saw the hole.”

The railway applauded his courage. The entire village, including the student’s family, was very happy. In the words of an old man named Abdus Sattar, “We are all proud of what he did.”

Many people are seriously affected by the outbreak of this disease and some even die. In order to be free from dengue, malaria, one should avoid mosquito bites and keep the surrounding environment clean so that larvae are not born. If larvae is born, use kerosene or bleaching powder to eliminate them. NSS volunteers should take initiative to keep the campus clean as well as protect their home environment and inform others about it. Dr. Hazarul Ibkar mentioned in detail the symptoms of mosquito or fly-borne diseases and the immediate measures that can be taken. Dr. Ashraul Haque discussed the causes, remedies and prevention of vector borne diseases or insect borne diseases through PPT presentation.

Md Nawaj Shorif, Malda: Ganga erosion in Malda’s Ratua! It started from Monday night. Residents demanded a permanent solution to prevent erosion. They claim that a large area of Mahanandtola village panchayat of Ratua has been submerged in the Ganges due to the erosion. Even the temporary camp of the police has been submerged in the Ganges. On Tuesday, it rained throughout the day in the district. As a result, the fear of erosion has increased among the riverside residents. Administration officials said that the erosion situation has not yet become alarming in the district. However, the officials of the irrigation department are keeping an eye on the situation.

Locals claim that in 24 hours, about 50 acres of agricultural land from Bablabona to Nayavilaimari has been submerged in the Ganga. Besides, a temporary police camp also sank into the river. However, the policemen fled from the camp seven days ago due to the fear of erosion. If the erosion continues, Srikanttola, Jitutola, Pataldanga Kantutola, Bodharamtola on the river bank will sink, claim the locals. Ratua TMC MLA Samar Mukhopadhyay said, “The central government is not doing anything to prevent erosion. The state government is trying to prevent erosion.”

On the other hand, North Malda BJP MP Khagen Murmu countered that the state is not giving any proposal to the central government to prevent erosion. “If the state sends the proposal, I will bring the money from Delhi to prevent erosion,” he said.
