Awareness meeting on insect borne diseases at Kaliachak College

Md Nawaj Shorif, Malda: An awareness meeting was held for the prevention of insect-borne diseases in the conference hall of Kaliachak College located in the southern part of Malda district. This awareness program is organized jointly by NSS or National Service Scheme First Unit and Second Unit of the college. The meeting was inaugurated by the principal of the college Dr. Najibur Rahman. The chair of the chief guest was decorated by the president of Kaliachak Doctors Club, Dr. Hajirul Ibkar. Medical Officer of Milky Hospital Dr. Ashraul Haque was present as a special guest. The meeting was conducted by Dr. Samrita Panda, Program Officer of NSS and Head of Department of Zoology and Munsif Ali Rizbi of Arabic Department with the help of Coordinator of College Internal Quality Assurance Cell and Head of Department of Economics Dr. Subrata Kumar Das.

Dr. Najibur Rahman said that insect-borne diseases spread wildly in our Bengal during the monsoon, as a result of which the prevalence of dengue increased. Many people are seriously affected by the outbreak of this disease and some even die. In order to be free from dengue, malaria, one should avoid mosquito bites and keep the surrounding environment clean so that larvae are not born. If larvae is born, use kerosene or bleaching powder to eliminate them. NSS volunteers should take initiative to keep the campus clean as well as protect their home environment and inform others about it. Dr. Hazarul Ibkar mentioned in detail the symptoms of mosquito or fly-borne diseases and the immediate measures that can be taken. Dr. Ashraul Haque discussed the causes, remedies and prevention of vector borne diseases or insect borne diseases through PPT presentation.
