Uttar Pradesh: BJP MLA Baldev Singh Aulakh stoked controversy, says Muslim community only eat and drink and produce children

News Desk: Uttar Pradesh Minister Baldev Singh Aulakh has stoked a huge controversy with his comments on the Muslim community. While speaking to the media, the Jal Shakti Minister in the Yogi Adtyanath Cabinet said that “people of the Muslim community only know how to produce children”.

The BJP MLA from Uttar Pradesh’s Bilaspur said, “The people of the Muslim community only eat and drink and produce children…Education, or upliftment of their children have never been their priority”.

Taking aim at Samajwadi Party leaders who criticised the Modi Cabinet over its proposal to increase the age of girls from 18 to 21, Aulakh said, “SP patron Mulayam Singh had given a statement like ‘ladko se galti ho jati hai’ to cover up a heinous crime like rape” adding that so what can you expect from them.

He condemned the statement of political leaders who have been raising voices against the proposal to increase the age of women from 18 to 21.

“Their (Samajwadi Party) MP is saying that girls will turn wayward if marriageable age is increased. They should not talk like this about our daughters” the BJP MLA said.

Aulakh’s reaction comes after the Union Cabinet has accorded in-principle approval to a proposal to increase the age of marriage of women from 18 to 21 years.

SP MP T Hasan had said that girls should be married when they attain the age of fertility.

“The fertility age of women ranges from 16-17 years to 30 years. Proposals for marriage start coming at the age of 16. If the marriage is delayed, there are two disadvantages: One is the possibility of infertility. The second is that children are not settled when one is ageing. When you are in your last decade or so of life, your children are still students. We are breaking the natural cycle” the SP MP had said in response to the Union Cabinet’s green signal to increase the minimum age of marriage for women from 18 to 21.
