News Desk: After Gyanvapi-Shahi Idgah, this time a petition was filed over a mosque near Panchganga Ghat in Kashi.

According to the Varanasi Gazetteer, the Bindu Madhav temple was earlier on the site, which was later demolished by Aurangzeb to build a mosque. Lord Vishnu was worshiped in that temple. The hearing of this case is also scheduled for next Saturday, the day of hearing of the case of Gyanvapi Mosque.

The incident started in 2002 with the creation of ‘Beni Madhav-Ka-Dharahara Bachao Samiti’ for the protection of the monument built near Panchganga Ghat. In 1997 and 2014, police prevented right-wingers from hoisting flags during the independence and republic day. That debate took a new turn this time.
