Bengal coal scam case: CBI arrested TMC youth leader Vinay Mishra’s brother Vikas Mishra

News Desk: CBI arrested TMC youth leader Vinay Mishra’s brother, Vikas Mishra, in connection with the West Bengal coal scam case. The agency is also probing the role of Vinay Mishra in connection with the case.

Vikas Mishra had earlier been arrested by the Enforcement Directorate but was granted bail on health grounds in April this year.

The ED had initiated the money laundering investigation on the basis of FIR registered by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on November 27, 2020.

The ED had attached assets to the tune of Rs 9.28 crore belonging to TMC’s youth leader Vinay Mishra, his brother Vikas Mishra, and prime accused Anup Majhi in connection with the West Bengal coal smuggling case.

A flat in Amethi (UP), 27 land parcels, two flats in West Bengal, and another flat in Mumbai have been attached by the ED under Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

According to officials, their investigation has revealed that proceeds of crime generated through the illegal coal mining was channelised to purchase the attached assets.
