TMC ready to deal with Suvendu Adhikari’s entry in BJP and Amit Shah’s challenge

News Desk: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday welcomed high profile TMC rebel Suvendu Adhikari to BJP at a rally in West Bengal’s West Midnapore. Shah was accompanied by Dilip Ghosh, Kailash Vijayvargiya and others. The Union Home Minister also had lunch at a farmer’s house in Belijuri village in West Midnapore district. He accused chief minister Mamata Banerjee of misrule, corruption and nepotism. Both Shah and Adhikari talked about the growing anger of people about the ruling party and the rise of nephew Abhishek Banerjee. They chanted slogans “Bhaipo Hatao”

Shah said “Why are so many people leaving Trinamool Congress? Because of the misrule, corruption and nepotism of Mamata Banerjee. Didi, this is just the beginning. By the time elections come, you will be left all alone”

Adhikari said “I have a long association with Amit Shah ji. I have been loved like a brother by the BJP. When I was afflicted by COVID-19, no one from the TMC for whom I have given my life, asked me how I was. But Amit Shah did twice”

He added “I am being called a traitor by those who themselves are traitors. Had the BJP not been there, TMC would have never come into existence. In the next assembly polls, BJP will win Bengal and TMC will be defeated”

Reacting to Adhikari’s statement TMC’s Madan Mitra said “I’m told that Suvendu said TMC did nothing for the last 10 years. If TMC had done nothing is last 10 years why were you silent? It’s unfortunate. Today there will be a gala evening for TMC workers as we’re free from virus now”

Earlier on Friday MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar said “The BJP is a party known for its falsehood. They are against Mamata Banerjee as she has been the most strident critic of the economic disaster caused under the Narendra Modi regime. She has been a vocal critic of the NDA government’s decisions, including sale of PSUs. Hence the BJP is getting back at her. It is luring TMC leaders to the saffron camp with tall promises”

On asking about leaders who recently resigned from primary membership she said “There are some who wish to do certain things in a certain manner for personal gains, something which our party wouldn’t allow as Didi believes in transparency”

Earlier a senior TMC leader said that the announcement of Adhikari’s opponent would come soon. He said “The face is ready. He is popular among the people as ‘bor da’ . His name has been finalized and he is a ‘gana neta’ and certainly a shocker for the BJP. In Asansol, also there will be some changes in the leadership structure. All will be declared soon”

When asked about the saffron party’s rally in the state he said “We don’t see it is a historic moment for the BJP. Our leaders have already started realising that it is BJP’s ploy to break the TMC to win the polls. Most of them refused to join them. We have managed to retain at least six TMC leaders in the past and the recent one was of Jitendra Tiwari and Biswajit Kundu”
