Chief Justice NV Ramana lashed out at the Center at a joint conference of Chief Ministers of various states and High Court judges

News Desk: Chief Justice NV Ramana on Saturday lashed out at the Center, without naming, at a joint conference of Chief Ministers of various states and High Court judges at Vigyan Bhawan in Delhi.

“The constitution divides the power into three equal branches. The equal distribution of power between these three branches strengthens the structure of democracy. We have to be careful in carrying out our responsibilities so that we do not cross the line” he said.

The Chief Justice also spoke on the misuse of public interest litigation. “In many cases such cases are being filed to seek personal revenge. Courts are increasingly vigilant in such cases. The government is often inactive despite court orders. This is not good for the health of democracy” he said.

Ramana also talked about speaking in regional languages in courts. “Focus should be on speaking in regional languages in courts. It will increase the faith of citizens on law and justice system”.
