Cricketers who are involved in the sport for more than two decades

News Desk: Cricket is a sport that has evolved a lot in the last few years. The emergence of T20 cricket and the increase in fan following of leagues has taken the sport to newer heights in terms of popularity and commercialization. While the format and style of cricket has changed a lot, there are some cricketers who made their international debut in 1990s and are still playing actively in 2022.

As we welcome the year 2022, here’s a list of the four cricketers who started their international careers in the 1990s and will be in action playing international cricket or T20 leagues in the year 2022.

1. Chris Gayle

Nicknamed as the Universe Boss, Chris Gayle has achieved mastery in the shortest format of cricket. He can destroy any bowling attack in the world once he gets going. The left-handed batter, who made his debut in 1999, was in action during the 2021 T20 World Cup in the Middle East and has not called it a day on his career yet.

2. Shoaib Malik

Shoaib Malik made his debut in 1999. Veteran Pakistan all-rounder Shoaib Malik is another star who made his debut in the 1990s and participated in the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 that happened in the Middle East. Malik looked in good touch during that competition and also played in the Lanka Premier League after that mega event. Malik won the LPL 2021 championship with the Jaffna Kings.

3. Mithali Raj

Mithali Raj is reckoned by many as the greatest female batter in international cricket history. The Rajasthan based cricketer started her international career for India Women against Ireland Women at Milton Keynes on June 26, 1999. She will play for the country in the 2022 Women’s World Cup soon.

4. Shahid Afridi

While Shahid Afridi has retired from international cricket, he still plays in the Pakistan Super League. The star Pakistan all-rounder has confirmed that PSL 2022 will be his last season. Ahead of the new season, Afridi moved from the Multan Sultans to the Quetta Gladiators team.
