Debjit Mukherjee: “All MPs must attend the special session of Parliament on September 18-22,” BJP issued a whip. The government will present four bills on that day. The most significant of them is the Chief Election Commissioner’s Appointment Bill. Along with this, the Post Office Bill, Advocate Amendment Bill and Press and Registration Bill will be introduced as well.
Apart from the appointment of the Chief Election Commissioner, the opposition has no particular objection to the rest of the bills. Congress campaign chief Jairam Ramesh said on social media, “I am sure the real bill has grenades hidden up. They will be brought out at the very last moment. There is something else behind the scenes.”
