Debjit Mukherjee, Kolkata: Professor Buddhadev Sahu is the new Vice-Chancellor of Jadavpur University. Not the interim vice-chancellor, the Raj Bhavan said that he is the permanent vice-chancellor.
Within a few hours of this announcement, Dean of Science Subinay Chakraborty resigned. In his resignation letter, however, he claimed that he was stepping down due to personal reasons. It was heard that he was also in the race to become the vice-chancellor.
