News Desk: Sri Lanka beat Netherlands by 16 runs to qualify for the Super 12 round of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia. Sri Lanka will now have to wait for the result of the next game between Namibia and the UAE to ascertain whether they will play in Super 12 Group 1 or 2.
Regardless of which group Sri Lanka qualify, Sri Lanka will play their first game in Hobart on either the 23rd or 24th of October.
A 44-ball 79-run knock from Kusal Mendis took Sri Lanka to 162 for 6 after a steady start. Sri Lanka scored 102 runs in the last 10 overs mainly due to towering sixes by Kusal Mendis.
Chasing a target of 163, the Netherlands lost wickets in regular intervals and only managed to score 149 for 9 in their allotted 20 overs.
