NDMC announced encroachment removal action programme in Jahangirpuri

News Desk: A few days after communal clashes erupted in Delhi’s Jahangirpuri, the North Delhi Municipal Corporation has announced a ‘special joint encroachment removal action programme’ in the area on April 20 and 21. For the same, the civic body has asked for 400 police personnel to be deployed to maintain law and order.

This comes after Delhi BJP chief Adesh Gupta wrote a letter to the NDMC mayor alleging that those accused in the Jahangirpuri violence case had indulged in illegal construction and encroachment in the area. He demanded that the ‘illegal construction’ be demolished.

“As you are aware, on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti, there was a shobha yatra taken out in Jahangirpuri. Some anti-social elements and rioters pelted stones on it. These anti-social elements and rioters have the support of local AAP MLA and councillor and as a result these people have done large-scale encroachment. Therefore, illegal encroachment done by these rioters should be identified and there should be bulldozers run over it” he wrote.
