Russia-Ukraine Crisis: Indian student killed in Russian shelling

News Desk: An Indian student from Karnataka’s Haveri, named Naveen got killed in Russian shelling in Kharkiv this morning.

According to reports, the Karnataka youth was standing in line to buy daily necessities. At that moment a Russian bomb exploded in the area. As a result, he died.

The news of his death was confirmed by MEA spokesperson Arindam Bagchi. Taking tu Twitter, he said “With profound sorrow we confirm that an Indian student lost his life in shelling in Kharkiv this morning. The Ministry is in touch with his family. We convey our deepest condolences to the family”.

Congress leader Shashi Tharoor said “This is an awful tragedy. My heart goes out to the family of the victim and the anxious families of all those still stuck in Ukraine. We must do everything possible to get them home”.

Sources said PM Modi has pressed the Indian Air Force into service to evacuate Indian nationals stranded in the war-torn country.
