“Will stop salaries of VCs if governor’s orders are followed”: CM Mamata Banerjee

Debjit Mukherjee, Kolkata: Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee warned of stopping the salaries of the vice-chancellors in colleges and universities if governor’s orders are followed. She said at the Teacher’s Day function at Dhandhanya Stadium on Tuesday, “If any university obeys the governor’s order, we will create financial obstacles. Let’s see who pays the salary of a vice-chancellor. He can only give the appointment letter, we pay the salary.”

She also said, “The governor has plotted to destroy the education system. We will not accept this. He thinks he is bigger than the chief minister. If this continues, we will create economic obstacles. Let’s see who runs it. If necessary, we will sit on a dharna in front of the Raj Bhavan.”
