“Buyers may have to continue paying higher prices in the coming days”: Experts on fuel price hike

News Desk: Fuel prices rose at midnight on Monday, 137 days after the five-state election. The trend of petrol and diesel price hike continued the next day. The price of fuel increased by 80 paise per litre from 12 pm on Tuesday night.

On Wednesday, Delhiites have to pay Rs 97.01 to buy a litre of petrol. In the capital, the price of diesel has gone up to Rs 88.27. In Kolkata, petrol and diesel prices rose to Rs 106.34 and Rs 91.42, respectively. In Mumbai, petrol is again priced at Rs 111. On this day the price of petrol is Rs 111.67 per litre. The cost to buy a litre of diesel is 95.85 rupees. In Chennai, petrol and diesel cost Rs 102.91 and Rs 92.95 per litre, respectively. Currently the cheapest petrol prices are in Andaman and Nicobar. A litre of petrol costs Rs 84 and price of diesel is Rs 78.52. Rajasthan has the highest fuel prices in the country. In Sri Ganganagar, petrol and diesel cost Rs 113.87 and Rs 96.91 per litre, respectively.

Experts say that the center does not usually reduce prices when fuel prices fall in the international market. As a result, a one-time price increase means that buyers may have to continue paying higher prices in the coming days.
