News Desk: The Election Commission, today, announced the schedule for the General Elections to the Legislative Assemblies of Goa, Punjab, Manipur, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh. Elections in five states will be conducted in seven phases. UP will go to poll in 7 phases from Feb 10 to March 7.
Model Code of Conduct in connection to the forthcoming General Election 2022 for five states including Manipur have come into immediate effect.
Out of the 5 poll-bound states, the BJP is in power in 4 states including Goa, Manipur, Uttarakhand, and Uttar Pradesh. While the term of the current Uttar Pradesh assembly is ending in May, those of the other four assemblies are ending on different dates in March.
Candidates contesting polls will be given an option for online nomination this time.
