Former UP Shia Central Waqf Board chairman Waseem Rizvi converted to Hinduism, took a new name Jeetendra Narayan Tyagi

News Desk: Former Uttar Pradesh Shia Central Waqf Board chairman Waseem Rizvi has renounced Islam and converted to Hinduism. He has taken a new name, Jitendra Narayan Singh Tyagi after accepting Hinduism.

The conversion ceremony took place in Ghaziabad at Dasna Devi Temple in presence of its head priest Yati Narasinhanand Giri Maharaj, also known as Narasinhanand Saraswati on Monday.

Converting to Hinduism, Rizvi associated himself with the Tyagi community. Waseem Rizvi will now be known as Jitendra Narayan Singh Tyagi.

Reports say Rizvi offered milk to the Shiva Linga installed at Dasna Devi temple as part of the ritual during conversion from Islam to Hinduism. The ceremony took place at 10.30 am amid chanting of Vedic hymns during the performance of a ‘yajna’.

“It will take time for people to get used to my new name Jitendra Narayan Singh Tyagi but with time it will happen” Waseem Rizvi was quoted as saying.

After his conversion to Hinduism, Waseem Rizvi referred to the belief system as Sanatan Dharma describing it as the world’s purest religion.

He said that he chose December 6 to convert to Hinduism as it was on this day in 1992, the Babri Masjid was demolished in Ayodhya.

“I will work for Hinduism from today. The votes of Muslims never go to any party. They only cast their votes to defeat Hindus” he said.
