Hijab row in West Bengal: School vandalised after girl students were prevented from wearing hijab

News Desk: Is ‘hijab row’ making its way to West Bengal? Such scenes were witnessed in West Bengal’s Murshidabad district’s Bahutali High School on Saturday.

The school was vandalised after the headmaster on Friday allegedly forbade girl students from wearing a hijab and burqa to the class and threatened them of removing name from the school registry if done again. The Block Development Officer (BDO) and the police rushed to the school and controlled the situation.

The matter was settled after negotiations between the school administration and students’ guardians.

At least 18 people have been arrested in the case so far.
