Khalistan flag at the main gate of Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly caused stir in Dharamsala

News Desk: Khalistan flag at the main gate and wall of the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly on Sunday morning caused a stir in Dharamsala. Deputy Commissioner Nipun Jindal said CCTV footage is being scrutinized to identify the culprits. The flag and the slogan has already been removed. Police suspect that some tourists from Punjab may have done this.

Strongly condemning the incident, Chief Minister Jairam Thakur tweeted “I condemn the cowardly act of hoisting the Khalistan flag in the assembly building. So far only the winter session has been completed. More security needed and actions will be taken as well”.

It is learned that on April 26, the intelligence department had informed that the Khalistanis could commit such acts. The intelligence report further claimed that Sikhs For Justice (SFJ) chief Gurupatwant Singh Pannu, in a letter to the Himachal Pradesh chief minister, had said that the Khalistan flag would be hoisted at Shimla.
