Rajiv Gandhi Murder: SC ordered immediate release of six convicts

Debjit Mukherjee: The Supreme Court, on November 11, ordered for the immediate release of six convicts who are serving life sentence for more than three decades in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case. The six convicts are: Nalini, Ravichandran, Jayakumar, Suthenthiraraja, Santhan, Murugan and Robert Pius.

The Congress today seethed at the Supreme Court decision to free Nalini Sriharan and five other convicts in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case and said it “disagreed with Sonia Gandhi”, who had pleaded for their release from prison.

The Congress said it would seek legal remedy.
