Anti TMC coalition swept polls to a cooperative body in East Midnapore

Debjit Mukherjee, Midnapore: An anti-Trinamool coalition on Monday swept polls to a cooperative body in West Bengal’s East Midnapore, prompting the governing party to allege a BJP-CPM nexus ahead of next year’s panchayat elections.

“It shows what we have been saying for long. BJP and Left are an alliance and there is no denying that now,” said Trinamool spokesperson Kunal Ghosh after the platform of Left and BJP won 52 of 63 seats in Nandakumar’s Baharampur Cooperative Credit Society.

TMC finished a distant second, but party leaders said such local tie-ups would not have any impact on next year’s rural polls.
