News Desk: Russia claims that “700 Ukrainian troops have surrendered in Mariupol”.
The entire city of Mariupol is now under Russian occupation. However, the Azov Battalion and the 36th Marine Brigade, the special forces of the Ukrainian army, are fighting in the base of the Azovstal Iron and Steel Center. Most of them are injured and running out of drinking water, food and ammunition.
Ukrainian army spokesman Oleksandr Motuzyanyk said “Rescue operations are under way in Mariupol. To say more is to endanger the lives of those soldiers”.
