Bengal post poll violence: CBI announced cash reward in connection with BJP worker’s murder case

News Desk: Probing post-poll violence cases in West Bengal, the CBI has announced a cash reward of Rs 50,000 each for information on the five absconding accused in the alleged murder case of a BJP worker.

The CBI has also assured that the identity of the informers will be kept safe.

BJP worker Abhijit Sarkar was allegedly assaulted by a mob on May 2, 2021, hours after the state election results were announced in West Bengal. He had later succumbed to his injuries.

Sarkas was cremated four months after his death. As directed by the Calcutta High Court, his autopsy was done twice.

A court in Sealdah had declared these five accused as proclaimed offenders. The accused persons are absconding.

These accused are Amit Das, Tumpa Das, Arup Das, Sanjay Barik and Papiya Barik.
