12 former VCs filed defamation charges against governor CV Ananda Bose

Debjit Mukherjee, Kolkata: A new twist in the state-governor conflict episode! This time, twelve former vice-chancellors have accused him of defamation. A legal notice has already been sent to the Raj Bhavan through e-mail demanding apology from him.

It may be noted that Governor CV Anand Bose commented, “You want to know why we could not appoint a vice-chancellor nominated by the government? Because some of them are corrupt. Some molested girl students. Some are busy playing political games. You tell me whether the university should have an interim vice-chancellor who can do corruption or molest female students.” A group of TMC oriented vice-chancellors and students sat on a dharna outside Gate No. 11 of the Raj Bhavan to protest this remark.
