Debjit Mukherjee: Most criminal cases are against BJP MPs in Rajya Sabha. Even the two Rajya Sabha MPs against whom there is a serious criminal case like murder are also BJP MPs. This information emerged from the report of Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) and National Election Watch (NEW) on Friday.
Out of 225 Rajya Sabha MPs, 75 have criminal cases against them. BJP MPs are the most in the list. Of the 85 BJP MPs in the Rajya Sabha, 23 have criminal cases against them. Out of which 12 people have serious criminal cases against them. Besides, the rest of the BJP MPs have important criminal cases against them, including kidnapping, extortion, etc. The BJP-ruled state of Maharashtra has the highest number of criminal cases against Rajya Sabha MPs. Then there are Bihar and Uttar Pradesh.
