Complaint lodged against Suvendu Adhikari and five others for insulting national anthem

News Desk: Five people, including opposition leader Shuvendu Adhikari, have been charged with insulting the national anthem in Kanthi. The complaint was lodged at Kanthi police station through e-mail of Pradeep Gain, President of Panchayat Samiti, Block No. 1, Kanthi.

Recently, the youth TMC in Kanthi organized a sabha to protest against the increase in petrol and diesel prices. At the end, the national anthem was played by all those present at the meeting including the Chairman in Council of Kanthi Municipality and Councilor Rina Das. However, Rina Das was accused of playing the wrong national anthem. The video went viral on social media in no time. Soumendu Adhikari lodged a complaint against Rina Das at Kanthi police station.

A non-political platform was created on 4th March to protest the insult towards national anthem. From that stage, Suvendu Adhikari performed the national anthem. But on that occasion, five people including him were accused of insulting the national anthem.

Pradeep Gain, president of Panchayat Samiti of Kanthi No. 1 block, alleged that “They deliberately insulted the national anthem. The national anthem was sung for 1 minute instead of 52 seconds. It is nothing but insult to the national anthem. The national anthem should not be insulted”.

However, no response was received from Shuvendu Adhikari and other accused
