Former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh sent to jail custody in connection with a corruption case

News Desk: Veteran NCP leader and former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh has been sent to jail custody in Mumbai’s Arthur Road Jail in connection with a corruption case.

Earlier, the CBI had taken into custody three close associates of Deshmukh. A special CBI court responded to Deshmukh’s plea for custody. Anil Deshmukh went to the High Court challenging the verdict but the Bombay High Court dismissed it.

According to the CBI, he admitted himself in the orthopedic department of JJ Government Hospital in Mumbai to avoid jail custody. He was taken into custody after he got released from hospital on Tuesday. However, no information was available on how long he would be kept in jail.
