Bengal bypolls: Over 70% turnout, BJP alleges involvement of fake voters

News Desk: Bypoll conducted in four seats of West Bengal – Khardah (63.9%), Dinhata (69.97%), Gosaba (75.91%) and Shantipur (76.14%) – on Saturday. Overall, the state recorded over 70% turnout.

BJP alleged the involvement of fake voters in the bypoll. Jay Saha, BJP candidate from Khardah, targeted the ruling TMC behind this act.

The accused, Tapas Majumdar, said that he was with BJP and joined TMC recently and the saffron party is taking revenge of that.

He said “I was with BJP and recently joined TMC and that is the reason they are labelling me as fake voter”

“I am a genuine voter. I was on my way out of the booth. Jay Saha’s goons attacked me. They tore my gold chain and took my voter ID card. Jay Saha is a criminal”

Saha, in reply, said “He is lying. He is trying to hide his crime by saying this. He himself tore the chain”

The BJP candidate also complained the commission about it.
