Bengal Government extends lockdown in containment zones till 30th September

News Desk: Honorable Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee extended lockdown in containment zones till 30th September 2020, keeping the urgency of the situation in mind. The Bengal Government also decided to start the metro rail services from 8th September in an organised manner following strict guidelines.

The following activities shall remain closed/prohibited in West Bengal till September 30:

  • Schools, ICDS centers, colleges, educational/training/coaching institutions
  • Cinema halls, swimming pools, entertainment parks, and theatres
  • Gatherings and congregations as mentioned in the earlier order

The following activities shall be permitted in West Bengal outside containment zones:

  • Open-air theatres with effect from September 21 with necessary permission from local authorities
  • Metro rail in a graded manner from September 8
  • All the other relaxations already permitted earlier

The Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress (TMC) government in West Bengal had earlier dropped August 16, 17, 23, and 24 from the list of complete lockdown dates.
