News Desk: After petrol-diesel and edible oil, this time the Modi government took a big decision to curb the price of sugar. On Tuesday, the finance ministry said no more than one crore tonnes of sugar could be exported annually from June 1. As a result, the amount of sugar in the domestic market will increase and this will lead to a control in the price increase.
According to a notification issued by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade, sugar exports have been kept in the restricted section since June 1 this year. It also said that the ban would not apply to sugar exported to the European Union and the United States under CXL and TRQ.
