Chargesheet against ten in Manish Shukla’s murder case

News Desk: The CID on Friday (January 1) filed a chargesheet in a court in Kolkata in connection with the murder of BJP leader Manish Shukla.

The chargesheet filed has named 10 people as directly accused. All 10 had been arrested. The accused have been charged under IPC Sections 302 (murder), 120B (criminal conspiracy, 201 (tampering of evidence), and 34.

Manish Shukla was murdered in Titagarh in North 24 Parganas district on the night of October 4 outside a party office by miscreants on a bike.

BJP MP Arjun Singh blamed the TMC for the murder of Manish Shukla. He said, “It was a planned murder by the TMC. Those who have been shown as suspects are the ones who gave shelter to criminals and funded the murder.”

The CID has named 12 others as those “still under probe for their suspected role” in the murder of the BJP Titagarh leader.

The list includes names of two senior TMC leaders, Uttam Das, former Barrackpore Municipality chairman, and Prashanta Chowdhury. Both had been questioned earlier by CID.

CID officers said that the accused named in the chargesheet include Md Khurram, who was one of the first to be arrested at Titagarh; Nasir Ali, the accused who fled to Bangladesh and was arrested only last month, Subodh Roy and Raja Roy.
