COVID norms were seen to be flouted during temple ceremony in the Gadag district of Karnataka

News Desk: Amidst the imposition of a lockdown in the state, COVID norms were seen to be flouted in the Gadag district of Karnataka. Villagers were seen participating in games during a ground-breaking ceremony of a temple without wearing masks or following the social distancing norms.

This comes after Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized on the surging cases in the state of Karnataka in a recently held meeting with Chief Ministers from all states. The state has recorded 34,281 fresh cases and has the second highest death toll in the country. The state government is planning to create a special taskforce for rural areas in order to control the rising number of cases in the hinterland.
