“Even Yogi Adityanath had cases against him”: Asaduddin Owaisi

News Desk: AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Tuesday said that his party will fight the next year’s Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh and that his party and Muslims of the state will also emerge victorious.

“We will fight the elections and win. The muslims of Uttar Pradesh will win,” Owaisi said while addressing a press conference in Ayodhya.

The AMIMI chief, who is on a three-day visit to the state, also announced that jailed mafia don-turned-politician Atiq Ahmad and his wife have joined his party.

“You will ask me that we are inducting Atiq’s family when he had a criminal record. So, I will tell you, BJP lawmakers have maximum criminal cases against them. There is a report by ADR,” he told media.

“One BJP MP even even has terror charges against her,” he said referring to BJP MP Pragya Singh Thakur, who is one of the seven accused in the Malegaon blast case of 2008.

Ahmad, a former Lok Sabha MP and strongman, has more than 90 criminal cases, including murder, abduction, illegal mining, extortion, intimidation and fraud, against him. He is lodged in a prison in Gujarat.

The AIMIM chief went on to say that even Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had cases against him.

“Many of BJP leaders also had cases of riots against them in Muzaffarnagar. All were withdrawn… Politicians whose name is Pragya, Ajay, Kuldeep, Kapil are considered popular leaders. but it is only people with names like Atiq, Mukhtar Ansari against whom cases stick. They are never withdrawn. Perhaps if they had other names, they would have been withdrawn,” he added.

Reading out a letter from Atiq, his wife Shaista Parveen said that he believes in Constitution and the policies of AIMIM.
