Former Congress leader Sushmita Dev joins TMC, praised chief minister Mamata Banerjee

News Desk: Former Congress leader, from Assam’s Silchar, Sushmita Dev joined the ruling TMC of West Bengal on Monday. She was welcomed by the party’s national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee and MP Derek O’Brien. On joining, the former Congress leader praised chief minister Mamata Banerjee and said that she has an excellent vision for the party’s future and hoped that she would be helpful in that regard.

The TMC on it’s Twitter handle shared Dev’s video clip in which she said “I arrived at Kolkata this morning accompanied by honourable Member of Parliament Derek O’Brien. I had the opportunity to meet Abhishek Banerjee, the TMC general secretary. We had a very good discussion. After that, all three of us, we went to meet the chief minister at her office. We had an excellent decision. Clearly, she has an excellent future vision for the party, and I hope to be helpful in that regard”

She also added “I will address a press meet tomorrow in Delhi and answer questions on any details anyone may want”

Earlier Dev wrote a letter to Congress president Sonia Gandhi about her decision of leaving the Indian National Congress. In her letter she said “I cherish my three decade long association with the Indian National Congress. I thank you personally for the guidance and opportunities you gave me”
