News Desk: Sujata Mondal Khan, wife of BJP Yuva Morcha President Saumitra Khan, joined the ruling TMC on Monday. Her decision of joining TMC before the upcoming 2021 election has created an atmosphere of fuss in the saffron party. But the question which rises is that ‘Has she exposed the corruption inside the saffron party?’ ‘Has she exposed how the arch rival attracting political leaders from other parties to their side?’
Taking a direct dig at the saffron party she said
“I have decided to join the TMC because of the BJP’s dirty politics. They are luring political leaders from other parties by showing them a wonderland. They were told that they will get plum posts and some were given assurances of becoming the Chief Minister.
The BJP do not respect those who actually deserve it. Now there are only opportunist and tainted people on the top. There was no respect in the BJP for me.
I don’t understand what kind of soap is it that is used to purifying the tainted leaders. I had fought for BJP and my husband…..we got them a victory in the Lok Sabha polls. I think they have only been opportunists.
They have six chief ministerial candidates and 13 deputy chief minister faces. Prime minister is a prime minister. He is not a chief ministerial candidate. When we ask them about the leadership, there is no answer. How can there be a value of people where you do not know the leadership?
I want to breathe. I want respect. I want to be an able leader of an able party. I want to work with my beloved Didi. Only she can take Bengal towards development and save the state from divisive politics. Today I am feeling very happy to join Didi”
Why Sujata Khan’s exit was a loss for BJP?
Sujata Mondal Khan played an important role in making her husband Saumitra Khan win in last year’s national election when he was barred by an order from Calcutta High Court from entering his constituency as a condition for bail in a criminal case. In Khan’s absence, she campaigned for him and helped him to win by a margin of 78,047 votes against Trinamool Congress’ Shyamal Santra without any roadshow or political rally.
Her organisational and campaigning skills at the booth levels can help TMC to strengthen booths in Khan’s bastion.
How Saumitra Khan reacted?
Emotional Saumitra Khan addressing a press conference on Monday said
“You were respected as a BJP MP’s wife. TMC can break families…You have got me votes and are a part of my victory. But I now release her from my name and surname. Those who broke our house…we will not forgive them.
You can take my property if you want it. Otherwise, I will donate it to the public.
I request my wife Sujata to stay well and fight out. You have made a mistake, Sujata. I want to tell Abhishek Banerjee, Sujata was my only weakness and now I will sacrifice everything for my party.
I will be sending a divorce notice. I will fight TMC. I want to tell TMC that you should be ashamed for breaking my family. There have been so many fights but I never expected this will happen”
