Now call for scientific survey in Mathura’s Shahi Idgah mosque

Debjit Mukherjee: This time the demand for ‘scientific survey’ in the style of Gyanvapi was raised in Mathura’s Shahi Idgah mosque. On this day, this application was filed in the Supreme Court on behalf of Sri Krishna Janmabhoomi Mukti Nirman Trust. Hindutva activists claims that the Shahi Idgah mosque is located in the Krishna janmbhoomi square and there are multiple proofs of Hinduism.

It is to be noted that a lower court of Uttar Pradesh had ordered a survey of the Shahi Idgah mosque in Mathura in the style of Gyanvapi. It got suspended by the order of the High Court. In the hearing of the Supreme Court on Monday, the Hindutva parties said, “Scientific survey is needed to be certain about the religious identity of the disputed area.” The Supreme Court said that after looking into the nature of the case, it may be considered whether the matter will be subjugated by the Supreme Court or not.
